It is said that “The deeds of the Patriarchs are an omen for the children” After the mila Abraham is “perfect” timim. So, he was able to go forward , grow and become perfect by giving something up, something “close"to him. What are WE to give up that will enable us to follow in Abraham’s footsteps? Something “close” to who we think we are. Perhaps our own definitions of how others should do their lives,that might enable us to open our tents. Perhaps our denigration of other Jews because they are not just like us. I’m sure we can think of many more possibilities. The question is what to take away from ourselves as individuals and as a people so we can be the children of Avrohom Avinu.
